UP AND COMING: BIG UPS

Big Ups are going to be big, if you pardon the pun. wait, thats not a pun. Moving on, there is a reason they were one of our tracks on Double Track Tuesday. We're not NME so we won't try to classify music with absurd genre names, so we're just going to call it punk rock awesomeness. Give it a listen below. But first watch this, courtesy of BreakThruRadio

Our favourite song of theirs is 'Shut Your Mouth', as we said on Tuesday it is exactly what we want to say to people. Whenever I listen I imagine screaming in my head, its amazing when you're seriously pissed off. It also makes me want to jump around tantrum style. Listen to them and email (dudewop@gmail.com)or comment about the weird things their music makes you want to do. Just so I don't feel alone.

Check out their facebook, cause social networks are rad. : BIG UPS

Blink 182 Appreciation Day

Today if you haven't realised is BAND APPRECIATION DAY! Therefore we thought we'd celebrate the genius of Blink 182.
Some will say Green Day are better, they would be wrong. And some would also say they're immature, because they brought us lines like 'there are only so many ways to make love with my hand'. These people would also be wrong because these are in fact hilarious and and this hilarity forms the basis of their appeal. And their freakin awesome songs.

Let's start off with a classic: Dammit - Dude Ranch

Another epic song from the boys: First Date - Take Off Your Pants and Jacket

Reasons why Blink 182 are the coolest:
1. Whatever mood you're in they'll make it better,10x better.

2. Every album is sweet.

3. They had a 7 year break, multiple side projects and still managed to produce             something as awesome as Neighbourhoods.  N.B- Side Projects : Boxcar Racer, Angel and Airwaves, +44 - check these out.

Here's a mix of all the most coolest songs, like always some are classics and some are less well-known:

Basically buy Take Off Your Pants And Jacket - it will blow your mind.
Keep it real. For real.

1. The Cure - Friday I'm In Love (classic, non-debatable)

2. God Equals Genocide - You're Different (too cool)

3. King Krule - Rock Bottom ( loved this dude since before the BBC Sounds of 2013, I might add, not that it matters to anyone else but me.)

FiDLAR - West Coast ( puts us in a good mood, except it makes me want to die on a Monday, p.s our FIDLAR 7" arrived which is marvellous.)

Have a good weekend!
Happy Listening!

UP AND COMING: PANGEA

Pangea are a band from California, which you can tell as their music is not just this incredible lo-fi skewed out crazy garage pop weirdness, but is really sunny in a way as well as fucking dark. I'm not going to lie it took me a while to get into them. I first listened to a few tracks off their album 'Living Dummy' (look below) and I liked their songs but soon forgot about them, a few weeks later I made myself listen to the whole thing, as I was just accumulating music and not listening to it, a bad pattern that it's hard to get out of by the way. Back to the point, after listening to the whole thing through I proceeded to listen to it almost every day for the next month. It is just killer.

Cool video for one of their songs:

PANGEA - SHITTY from Alexander Uhrich on Vimeo.

More about the band themselves, they hail from California as I mentioned and their first 'proper album', as they say,was released by Burger Records, home of notable garage acts such as Ty Segall and the Black Lips who you might have heard of (we'll most definitely be writing about them so don't worry if you haven't). They have also recently released and EP called 'Killer Dreams' which is different from 'Living Dummy' but equally as awesome. From what I've seen they've been getting a lot of attention on blogs and the internet lately, so we're not the quickest off the mark in that respect but I just had too many good things to say about them that I needed to get them out. Please check them out, something from their bandcamp is below, click, listen, buy, then listen more. It'll blow your mind.

Double Track Tuesdays #1

Happy Tuesday! Here are the tracks that have been driving us crazy, any time, era, genre, or artists, just good shit that we've been listening to this past week:

Raw Meat - The Black Lips

Super catchy, upbeat and nothing can compete with this whistling. I've  played it an ungodly amount of times this week and am pretty sure my roommate is sick of it.

Come On Eileen - Dexy's Midnight Runners

A classic. Unbelievably catchy, and, lets face it, nothing beats dungarees. Enough said.

This Pâté's amazing, but we gotta motor now.*

Nirvana Appreciation Day

NIRVANA APPRECIATION DAY! #1

Today is Nirvana Appreciation Day OK. That rhymed, but that's not the point. Nirvana is the point. And today we're going to celebrate them.

'Endless Nameless' at Cow Palace: This is just fucking awesome, skip to 5:10  if you don't feel like watching the whole thing.

Reasons why Nirvana are RAD (In no particular order):
1. They defined the 90s, which is undoubtedly the best decade.
2. They are wisdomous* e.g ' If it's illegal to rock and roll, throw my ass in jail! Kurt Cobain
3. They make good music. Really good.
4. They were the voice of a generation, their iconic image and timeless creations  changed music forever (Pretentious we know but its true.)
5. Kurt Cobain.

Below is a mix of our favourite Nirvana songs, some well-known, some underrated. Be cool-listen to it.

Just remember, Nirvana is the shit.

 Stay classy San Diego.
Peace out.
