NME TOUR 2013 REVIEW!!!!!!

THE LINE UP: Peace, Palma Violets, Miles Kane, Django Django
THE EXPERIENCE:
So I went to the NME Tour last year, when the line up was Azealia Banks, Metronomy, Tribes and Two Door Cinema Club, which was absolutely incredible. So this year, for me, had a lot to live up to. But the line up of Peace, Palma Violets, Miles Kane and Django Django definitely did live up to last year. Here's the run down of the partay:

Peace

Peace were up first, in the much coveted first slot of the tour. They lived up to it. Looking fucking cool they came on and blasted through most of the tracks from their 'Delicious EP'. The highlight for me was their fuzzier, heavier - but as dreamy as the studio version - rendition of 'California Daze'. You could tell a lot of the crowd were there for Peace and the atmosphere in the pit was buzzing. Amazing.

Palma Violets

Having heard so much about their notoriously good live shows, I was expecting Palma Violets to be awesome. And they so were. I don't know the exact order of their setlist but they tore up the place with classic tracks like 'Tom the Drum', '14' and 'Best of Friends', and a couple of new ones as well, off the debut album '180' (which we CANNOT wait for by the way). 'Best of Friends' was fucking awesome, as to be expected. Basically, they are brill live and the place had a great vibe. Also they're just so cool. Everyone should definitely go see them if you get the chance. They're gonna be big.

Miles Kane

Miles Kane was, for me, the best act of the night. He ripped through tracks like 'Rearrange', 'Counting Down the Days', 'Quicksand' and 'Kingcrawler' from his first album 'The Colour of the Trap', all of which were frickin' amazing. He also threw in a couple of new ones, including one called 'Don't Forget Who You Are', which, when he announced 'I'm gonna play a new one now' got a bit of complaint from the audience who were loving the old ones. He responded by pointing at he audience and saying in his beautiful Liverpudlian accent 'Don't worry its great. No, no seriously, this ones bangin!' And it so was. If the likes of 'Don't forget who you are' are anything to go by, the new album is gonna be awesome. In fact, I would have probably said that it was the highlight of the set, if he hadn't gone on the play 'Inhaler' next, which was fucking brilliant. The moshpit was incredible. I'd say this was the highlight of the night for me, followed closely by his last song 'Come Closer' which he played next. He was brilliant, and also wearing a very cool shirt. Definitely one to go see if you get the chance.

Django Django

Django Django were the headline act and a lot of people were there to see them. Sadly I didn't really know many of they're songs and didn't watch all of their set, but I saw 'Waveforms' and 'Life's a Beach', both of which were brilliant. They also had loads of really cool sound effects and lighting, which is always good. So yeah, as a band I didn't know very well, and didn't really think were my sort of thing, I did end up actually really enjoying Django Django. Especially at the end when the lead singer said 'Thank you, you guys are fucking awesome!' over the delay effect meaning we got to walk out to the sound of 'You guys are fucking awesome! You guys are fucking awesome! You guys are fucking awesome!' on repeat. Which was nice. Thank you Django Django.

So basically, the NME tour is always fantastic and this year was no exception. Also I didn't nearly lose my shoes this year, so that was a bonus! Oh and they gave away free posters, which was also great. If you can catch a ticket for any of the shows along the rest of the tour, definitely go. For sure.
Peace out home boys, girls.
